Sarah Brahim

Sarah Brahim is an artist passionate about creating meaningful work with artists of varying mediums. She grew up studying, choreographing, performing, and teaching jazz, contemporary, ballet, and tap as well as learning many arts and craft mediums from her mother. Studied intensively at the San Francisco Conservatory of Dance and from there moved to London and in 2016 she graduated from London Contemporary Dance School (LCDS) and holds a BA Honors degree in Contemporary Dance. At LCDS she further explored the depth and resonance of movement, discovering her passion for improvisation, collaboration, choreographing, and healing through movement. She also holds a BS in Public Health:Community Health Education from PSU as she believes her work is at the intersection of the body, arts, community, and healing. Since graduating she has worked professionally performing, choreographing, and directing movement. She is continuing to craft performances ,film, and textiles, producing work on the themes of culture, loss, identity, veiling, borders, race, migration, transnational experience, woman of color experience, body in landscape, and the imprint places can leave in us.
She has been a resident at Spaceness Artist Residency, New Expressive Works 6 month choreographic residency, 33 Officina Creativa in Italy and is currently an Alembic Resident in Performance Works North West 9 month choreographic residency. In 2019, her research and work as a choreographer and artist has been supported by American Dance Festival, the Regional Arts and Culture Council, The Field NYC, Drinking Gourd Fellowship, Samt, Hafez Gallery, Athr Gallery, and Performance Works North West. In 2020 her work was exhibited at Ori Gallery in Portland, Oregon as well as Hafez and Athr Galleries in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. In 2020, she spoke on her work at Sharjah Art Foundation (UAE), Sidra Arts (Saudi Arabia), and the Portland Art Museum (USA).
