Why We Make Our Own
October 14, 2021 @ 5:00 pm - 6:30 pm PDT
An interactive discussion on maintaining creative control by designing and making our own pieces, led by Portland-based radical educator Vo Vo.

Vo’s discussion will center around maintaining creative control by designing and making our own pieces while giving a tour of their artist residency at Praxis Fiber Workshop on the Jacquard TC2 loom in Cleveland, OH. Like many craft technologies, the Jacquard TC2 and practices that embrace both hand and machine-made making are straddling questions about the futures of traditions, and how traditional approaches can embed in new, digital, or machine approaches. Additional topics of discussion may include emergent patterning, generative patterning, and weaves based on data or other inputs. This event will be part artist talk, part studio tour, part reflection, and mostly Q+A discussion.
This event will be held virtually via Zoom.
