Take Root at SATOR Projects
September 7-November 1
Take Root transports visitors through immersive textile ‘tree totems,’ displaying the hues created from one massive mushroom.
Take Root, a show of new works by Julie Beeler at SATOR Projects, will transport visitors through large scale, immersive textile ‘tree totems,’ each displaying the chromatic interplay of hues created from a single, massive mushroom. A series of textile pieces, mono prints, and photographs visualize its relationship to the environment and create a portrait of our local ecosystem; moving through the spectrum of hues will reveal the process of coaxing color from fungi. Visitors will have the opportunity to learn from the land, discover the fungi, investigate the invisible colors and pigments, imagine the underlands, and spread like mycelium throughout the space. The opening of the exhibit is Saturday, September 7 from 5-7pm; the show will be open weekly on Saturdays from 12-4pm or by appointment. For the closing event on Saturday, November 1 from 5-7pm, Julie Beeler will be in conversation with Wildcraft Studio School founder, Chelsea Heffner, discussing her work at the intersection of art and nature.
