Participants will learn how to use foraged plants to create natural resist patterns and shapes on fabric, using indigo dye.
Indigo dyeing is a practice deeply intertwined with both cultural heritage and natural ecology. The rich, deep blue shades created from the indigo plant have been cherished across civilizations, representing a connection between humanity and the natural world. The process of creating and working with indigo dye is not just an artistic endeavor, but a living testament to centuries of cultural exchange, traditional craftsmanship, and respect for nature.
In this 3-hour workshop, participants will learn how to use foraged plants to create natural resist patterns and shapes on fabric, using indigo dye. Through this practice, they will gain an understanding of the historical and cultural significance of imprinting plants as a storytelling medium to preserve nature’s legacy for future generations. Participants will leave with a unique indigo-dyed piece and a deeper appreciation of natural dyeing and cultural preservation through storytelling.
