A panel discussion with four previous GLEAN artist participants centered around reuse and repair.
Join PSU’s School of Art + Design for a panel discussion between previous GLEAN artists facilitated by Leslie Vigent. The panel includes:
Lauren Prado: Prado, a Glean artist in 2019, uses fiber, yarn, and needles to create representations of the digital images and products that flood our online feeds. She recently received an MFA in Visual Studies from the Pacific Northwest College of Art.
Caroline Hazel Drake: a Glean artist in 2018, Drake is a third generation Oregonian from a long line of craftswomen. They are a mostly self-taught artist whose aesthetic is grounded in the colors and textures of the Pacific Northwest. (@carolynhazeldrake)
Brenda Mallory: a Glean artist in 2015, Mallory is an eco-conscious recycler and composter who often works with found materials. Using cloth scraps from commercially sewn products, her mixed media work is often made from duplicating forms and repetitive processes, transforming materials that have been deemed worthless into thought-provoking and beautiful pieces.
Vanessa Calvert: a Glean artist in 2019, Calvert addresses subjects including domesticity, consumption, and identity. She is a mixed-media sculptor and installation artist living and working in Portland.
A link to register for this panel will be made available by October 1st.
