Emotions of Home

October 7-October 29

Art exhibition exploring the feelings and memories that evoke a sense of home.

Well Well Projects presents Emotions of Home, the latest work by Korean artist Hyun Jung Jung.
For years, Jung melted the meanings of home into the objects she collected. Moving so often, the transience of those spaces, combined with the uncertainty of how long she would remain in each one, equipped the artist with the readiness to move to a different place whenever it was needed. Countless events happen at home, and every moment of these events gets accumulated and becomes part of the home. Unable to carry a physical house, Jung turned to her collected objects as vessels to capture the essence of home; the objects that now hold an array of memories, nostalgia, joy, sadness, excitement, longing, and more. In Emotions of Home, Jung utilizes these artifacts as the material, transforming them into various sculptures and installations. Through this process, she hopes these works will forever exude the precious memories they’ve captured.

Even a familiar house can transform into an entirely new space with a simple furniture arrangement. During the month, Hyun Jung Jung will be inviting fellow creatives to utilize this space to showcase their works within the framework of the space. This mirrors the ever-evolving story of a home setting, where different events shape it day by day.

The opening of the show will be on October 7th at 5:00pm.

“성수 2023년 8월 (Seong-su August 2023)” at Emotions of Home is a textile piece documenting various textures found on the streets of Seong-Su, a popular destination and the temporary home of Ilgi Studio during their recent trip to Seoul. Ilgi Studio is a lifestyle and apparel brand exploring documentation and reflection, drawing thematic inspiration from environments and personal experiences. Through a dually Korean and American point of view, the processes behind each garment are introspective, nostalgic, and sentimental, celebrating memories as precious archived objects.

“성수 2023년 8월 (Seong-su August 2023)” will activate the space from 10/20 to 10/22, with an opening on October 20th from 6:00pm-8:00pm.

Support Our Community Programs

In just over 4 years, Portland TextileX Month (PTXM) has turned from an ambitious idea into an engaged community movement. This transformation highlights the power of our mission to foster collaboration, cross-pollination, cultural dialogue, and intergenerational exchange among the Portland textile community and beyond.

This year we’ve organized the PTXM festival with over 40 events and directly sponsored a multitude of FREE programs including exhibits, workshops, artist talks, community events, and more—representing a diverse range of textile interests and practices. This year’s PTXM Regeneration Festival has brought together makers, businesses, teachers, students, institutions, and organizations to gather around shared interests and knowledge-sharing. PTXM would not have been possible without the dedication of event organizers, paid contributors, paid interns, amazing volunteers and the receptiveness of the textile community.

We hope to continue building PTXM and TextileX website as sustainable resources that serve the textile community for years to come, and that’s where you come in.

If you feel a connection to the PTXM mission and what we can accomplish together, please consider making a direct contribution programming. As a direct contributor, your funds will go directly toward programming, lean administrative expenses, and providing paid internships. We appreciate any contribution you can make and your continued support.
