Cotton + Wool
October 1-October 31
A t-shirt is transformed into a warm layer by integrating wool through hand felting.

“Cotton + Wool” is an interactive installation which displays several examples of warm weather clothing transformed into protective, all-weather layers, reflective of the versatility of hand-felting. The ancient technique of hand felting is reimagined as an accessible, sustainable solution to transform second hand t-shirts into water resistant, cold weather layers in just a few hours. The wool is sourced from small farms in Western Oregon and special attention is given to water consumption and biodegradable soap in the felting process.
Felting is further explored by BASIC NEEDS through her animal-friendly sheepskins made using whole raw fleeces.
